Kate
Subject: Art Project
Hi,
I'm an Art Teacher in a High school. I considered many creative responses to your question...but I would like to focus on a more sentimental one.
I moved into my house a year ago. At that time I was very ill and so could not take part in most of the renovations (which was very frustrating).
I soon got to know the neighbours, in particular a lady named Barbara. She is kind, caring and would always ask to help...regardless of her age (70's?).
Since I have known her, her husband of over 40 years has been very ill. They are in and out of hospital daily and she is his sole carer at home. She has expressed to me how difficult this is for both of them and this has sometimes led her to tears.
She always checks up on me, she offers to pick things up from the shops when I'm working...even though I know she doesn't have a lot of spare cash.
I would love a creative challenge of responding to £100...but what would give me more joy and make a more important impact on my community would be to see a kind and selfless neighbour treated with the money.
She could spend this on whatever her heart desires...and I feel that would be an appropriate way to spend this money. Not on creativity but on the community.
Thanks in advance.
First Meeting
I met Kate at her house in Old Trafford.
We sat on the sofa in her living room and had tea. We discussed the project and the responses I had received. Kate told me about some of the art projects she had worked on previously.
Kate said she was popping next door that evening to give Babs her £100.
